Building on the topic of strength training discussed in my previous articles, I want to share an observation before presenting another helpful resource.

While students often feel stronger with strength training, they notice workouts don’t become easier. The expectation might be that increasing effort and weight should eventually lead to easier workouts. However, the reality is that progress involves continually pushing limits with more repetitions and/or heavier weights. This constant progression ensures that the effort invested directly translates to increased strength.

This recent article from Lou Mudge, Fitness Writer, with expert input from Emma Simarro, Personal Trainer, published by Fit&Well does a nice job of reinforcing that you cannot stand still with your strength training. “For women in midlife, this (strength training) is so important because we become more insulin resistant,” says Simarro. And, those feelings around your workouts not getting easier…well, should they be?  Effort = Results!  Read the full article here: An expert trainer says this is the one thing that women need to understand about strength training.
