Registered dietitian Jill Daniels is bringing more than 25 years of experience in the Tri-Valley to her new role as the in-house nutritionist at the Well Studio. As a certified intuitive eating counselor and specialist in sports nutrition, Daniels emphasizes a mindful and balanced approach to food and wellness.
The Well Studio has partnered with Jill to broaden our education and support for nutrition and holistic, healthy living. Why Jill? She’s practical, compassionate and aligns with our core values and mission to meet you where you are on your journey and help you live a happier, longer life.
“Listen to your body because our bodies have been designed to signal us when to eat and when to stop,” Daniels said.
When it comes to fitness related goals, results tend to come from a mix of exercise (20%) and nutrition (80%). Hypothetically that is as there are certainly other components, such as sleep/recovery and restoration that factor in. However, the old adage is still applicable: “Abs are made in the kitchen”.
- Muscle building happens through exercise.
- Fat loss, which reveals muscle definition, is primarily influenced by diet.
- The phrase “abs are made in the kitchen” highlights the importance of nutrition in achieving a toned look but should be understood in context with exercise and individual differences.
Therefore, a “fit” body is not solely built in the kitchen but is the result of a combination of strength training and disciplined nutrition.
With that, intuitively eating to support our activity level, fitness objective and health goals is both meaningful and impactful.
“It doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to know how to cook,” Daniels said. “I tell my clients to look for a win-win. Find something you like to eat, which also makes you feel good and energized, comfortable and satisfied.”
